Week Two Mask Challenge

We hope everybody is enjoying Maskmaking March! Here we are in the second week of March, and that means it’s time for another Mask Challenge! For week two, you can choose any wrestler’s mask to make, any mask past, present, or future. The catch is, you have to make a monochromatic version! Take the original colours of the wrestler’s mask, and throw them away. Pick a single colour, and use just that colour for the body and plates of the mask. Here’s a tip: when making this sort of mask, mascareros frequently use different textures and different materials of the same colour to add visual interest. So for the Week Two Mask Challenge, you should make a monochromatic mask!

Here’s some sample images of monochromatic masks to give you an idea of what we’re talking about. Note that the gold Dragon Lee has a tiny bit of black in it. A small amount of accent colour is okay in your mask design, but use it VERY sparingly, if at all!

As always with MaskMaking March, you have one week to make your mask. We encourage everybody to post their masks to your online home of choice by Sunday, March 17 with the hashtag #MaskMakingMarch. We’ll repost everybody’s masks here on the website. (If we don’t see your mask and repost it, send us a link!) Next Sunday we’ll have a brand-new Mask Challenge for Week Three!
