Well here we are with the last full week of March, and thus the last Weekly Challenge for MaskMaking March! We’ve had some great Challenges so far, and seen some great maskmakers step up and produce some gorgeous masks. For this last challenge for MaskMaking March 2019, we urge you to make a mask like you’ve never made before! Stretch yourself! Pick a feature, style, material, or method you’ve never used before, and go for it. Have you never made a mask with fins, horns, or other 3D embellishments? Perhaps you’ve never made a chinless mask? Never made a mask that zips up instead of laces? A leather faceplate instead of vinyl might be new for you. If you’ve always made your masks out of spandex or another stretchy material, perhaps try to make one out of a non-stretch material (then you REALLY have to have the fit right!) Perhaps you’ve never made a mask using fur—give it a try! This week sums up what MaskMaking March is all about: trying to become a better maskmaker, and trying things you’ve never tried before. So for the Week Four Mask Challenge, you should make a mask like you’ve never made one before! Feeling particularly brave? Try more than one thing you’ve never tried before, all in one mask! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
As always with MaskMaking March, you have one week to make your mask. We encourage everybody to post their masks to your online home of choice by Sunday, March 31 with the hashtag #MaskMakingMarch. We’ll repost everybody’s masks here on the website. (If we don’t see your mask and repost it, send us a link!)
